So I sit down in front of my television last night and fire up my DISH Network DVR to watch some of my favorite programs that have been dutifully recorded and find that a new episode of The First 48 has been recorded. Since it’s one of my favorite programs, I was looking forward to watching it.

Imagine my surprise when I began watching this “new” episode of the program and discovered that there was something strangely familiar about it. As far as my DVR was concerned, this was a “new” episode, but the longer I watched, the more familiar it seemed to be. Finally it hit me. This wasn’t an episode of The First 48 at all!

One thing I noticed immediately was that it was not the usual narrator that was doing the voice over work. I wondered if the original narrator has been replaced. I also started to noticed that some of the on-screen graphics were not the same. The colors has been changed a bit.

What I was watching, was in fact an old episode of a program called Crime 360 that had been “recycled” and broadcast by A&E as a “new” episode of The First 48!

Needless to say, I didn’t get through the whole program, and quickly moved on to another program I had recorded.

Is the economy that bad? Television networks are now “recycling” television shows?

I hope A&E sees the error of their ways and puts a stop to this kind of foolishness. After all, these are both detective shows, how easy did they think it would be to trick viewers?
