The two smallest stacks — both under 10 million chips — at this year’s Main Event final table are up against two huge challenges: chip leader Darvin Moon’s 58+ million chip stack, and celebrated player Phil Ivey, perhaps the most feared name to go up against as a contender. However, the two short stacked players each have plenty of final table experience since both James Akenhead and Antoine Saout were finalists in the 2009 WSOP Europe. Akenhead was first to be eliminated in ninth place, and Saout went out in seventh place.
Antoine Saout is a 25-year old player from Saint Martin des Champs, France. He began playing poker about 18 months ago. Like many other final table contenders before him, he won his seat to the Main Event via a satellite game for only $50 at a poker online room, Everest Poker. This is his first American WSOP event and he will have to play very skillfully to leverage his 9.5 million chips against the monster stacks and big names at the table.
The short stack at the final table is well-known professional poker James Akenhead, from the U.K. A former train conductor, Akenhead decided to pursue a professional poker career three years ago, when he earned more money playing online poker in one night than he earned in a year working on the train. In 2008, he finished second in a $1,500 WSOP Hold ‘Em event and won $520,000. He is a member of a group of professional players known as the “Hit Squad” and he has made 20 cashes, including three first place tournament finishes.

As online poker players, we rarely have to think about whether we are camera ready. By camera ready, I mean whether we are in a position where we could be theoretically televised without embarrassing ourselves. The reality of the situation is that more and more poker online tournaments are being televised these days. This means that there is actually a strong chance that you can end up facing the cameras next time you enroll in a serious poker tournament.
Something that you need to consider when you see the cameras rolling at your next tournament is how the people at home will think about your playing style. Many people at home, maybe even some you will play against in the future, will see the ins and outs of your playing style without you even knowing. Even if you don’t end up at the final table, there is still a chance that you could end up on film. Many tournaments are now using constant web cam technology to keep their online patrons involved in the game. They can watch the tournament from all different 24/7 perspectives, some of which may include that table in the corner where you are sitting. Be aware of the image you project at the casino, both for the other players and for the camera.

You visit a casino online. You’re out of position and you see that the button raiser makes the standard button raise and he’s been playing loose and aggressive. The small blind is also a loose aggressive player who’s been 3 betting more frequently than is mathematically feasible and you’re in the BB, now with position and the ability to act last on this betting round.
Now, one of the more expensive moves, though very worthwhile moves to make at a online poker table when you’re getting a lot of loose raising and 3 betting is to put in a 4 bet.
But this requires two conditions to be met. First you need to know whether or not you’re going to call or fold if the players behind you decide to 5bet shove. Second, you need to have a tight aggressive image.
The reason this will work is simply because of the sheer strength of the move. It’s tough not to give you respect if you’re four betting with a tight aggressive image. So it really doesn’t matter what cards you have when you’re looking to do this against loose aggressive poker players.
What matters is simply the fact that you’re playing their hands against them. Now let’s say you 4 bet with 77, and you get a 5bet shove. Even with a loose player, you’ll probably want to give him some credit since his shoving range is most likely crushing your 4bet. But let’s say you pull the same move with AKs (this is all preflop) and you get a 5bet shove all in. You’re going to have to realize what his range might be, and see what cards you may have that are blocking his range. With AK, you’re probably going to be calling his shove, and it’s a hand you should consider as part of your four bet range anyway.
In any event, chances are you’ll end up either taking the pot down with your four bet if your image is in good condition, or you’ll just get a call from a looser player hoping to catch something, in which case, you can make your standard continuation bet (though maybe a bit smaller than usual to make it look like a value bet) and take down the pot there after he checks it back to you (something he’ll do about 70% of the time since he won’t connect with the flop).

In the process of playing a hand of poker against an opponent, each bit of information you receive is a clue toward what lies in your opponent hand, and thereafter how best to respond to it. For each signal you receive from preflop to the showdown you are acquiring pieces of puzzle that can help you narrow down the potential fields of results. The best players in the world are those that can narrow that down most accurately, often to the point of being able to call our their online poker opponent’s hand sight unseen.
Of all of these kinds of players, Daniel Negreanu is one of the best. He is very frequently known as able to nail down not only the opponent’s range of hand, but the exact hand they must have. He often will call these hands out during play, in the midst of talking to his opponent to continue to try to fire bullets that bring him back more and more information.
Think of the feeling that must be to hear your opponent name the hand you have in the heat of battle at the casino. If your opponent is so strong as to be able to name these hands, it is like the walls go down around you. Maybe try to improve your guessing game but doing it more often, and seeing how often you can nail the hammer on the head.

Unlike poker, when I first started playing blackjack, I was only aware of two options-hit and stand, and that’s pretty much blackjack at it’s most basic. There are other options, but the only two you need to know to get started are hitting and standing.
Hit: Playing blackjack, like in Texas Holdem poker, you get dealt two cards, but face up. The first thing you learn in blackjack, hitting is when you take another card from the dealer to get as close to 21 as possible. Since your goal is to get as close to 21 as possible without going over, you need to evaluate your cards. If your cards add up to eleven or less, you’ll want to hit, and if you’ve got twelve or higher, it’s up to you to decide whether or not it’s worth the risk to hit. Standing: The symbol for moderation, almost like checking in poker, staying is deciding not to take anymore cards from the dealer. Again, it’s up to you to decide whether or not you’re cards will be closer to 21 than the dealer. Most people feel comfortable with 18 or higher, but it all depends on what the dealer’s up card is showing.
When you sit at a table for the first time, whether virtual or real, knowing the basics will get you familiar with the game. Then you can get cracking on the complicated stuff.

Now the UIGEA, and all the laws regulating the poker community is most assuredly old news to the majority of online poker players in America, and so is the recent online scandal by two top poker sites.
But on December 3rd, the evening news giant “60 Minutes,” aired a show detailing the intricacies of the plot that cheated some 20 million away from the pockets of several players on these sites, and several of which were American.
This was the first wave of the wake up call. When we look to the past, and think about other things in the history of the world that people still did, such as alcohol and the problem of bootlegging thereafter, it’s hard not to look at online gambling any differently.
We see what happened when the industry became regulated. It became quite profitable, and people stopped worrying about getting bad whiskey. The same is projected to happen to the poker industry.
Not only would more people have access to the game, but people would be more prone to trust in an industry that’s mandated by law to play by the rules. Then there’s the whole tax revenue that provides extra incentive.
Regardless of what happens, the phenomenon isn’t just going to go away. There are still thousands of players who are playing online even after the UIGEA and all the other preventative measures. So the options quickly become clear. Do you regulate to protect the interest of the people, or do you continue to let it run the way it runs with no system of checks and balances for those who choose to pursue it the way it stands.

The U.S. House of Representatives is debating HR Bill 6870 that could come as early as September 22nd 2008. This means that their international counterparts may be seeing a return to the table so to speak of the American side of the online poker freight train that has overtaken online cardrooms everywhere.
Congressman Barney Frank is diligently fighting to reverse parts of the Unlawful Internet Gambling Enforcement Act of 2006 passed by the United State Congress two years ago.
The bill sets out to define fully for financial institutions what exactly constitutes “Illegal Gambling in the United States,” which could possibly free up many of banks and escrow services from liability for negligence under the Act.
And so far Congressman Frank has received much support.
As for his argument, well it looks like commonsense finally struck someone in Washington. “Adults are entitled to do with their money what they want to do,” was the gist of the Congressman’s remarks.
If this bill passes through, then it will effectively halt the enforcement activities of the UIGEA until congress can redefine and rewrite the statues to fit the demands of the bill.
These are great times indeed for online casino owners and players alike, as the return of legal US players to the ranks, means that there’s more money to be won, and more money to be made.
Perhaps it’s due time the House finally gives the citizens what they deserve: the return of their rights to do what they wish with their leisure time. Oh, and more poker.

Although many sources of information on sugar gliders and their care emphasize taking care of a sugar glider’s food and its health more than anything else, there is one thing which is very important and that is the sugar glider’s cage elements. Following are some important items that should be available in a sugar glider’s cage to provide them a completely natural environment.
Nest Boxes
A nest box or glider pouch is the most important element for sugar gliders. The nest box should have the characteristics of absorbing moisture and breathe a bit. You can buy or even make a glider pouch at home, something along the lines of a wooden and unglazed clay pot with holes in the side for instance. Such a sugar glider pouch has the ability to absorb the urine and other wastes.
For a sugar glider’s health, at least once in a month, you should replace their nest box.
Another option that you can use as a sugar gliders nest is a cloth pouch. These pouches are easy to fix on the sides of the cage, are washable and can easily changed if required. Unless you have a cloth bag to use, you should also provide the bedding material as well. Cloth pouches are recommended for sugar gliders, but remove all the loose threads from the pouch.
Food Dishes
For food dishes, again you can use the same as you use for birds. The dishes should be wide enough to carry much food but not so wide that the sugar glider climbs in and spoils the food. For water, if your sugar glider is not trained enough to drink water through the water bottle, then you can use another dish for water.
These are just a few of the necessary elements that you must install in your sugar gliders cage. This will give them a completely natural environment.
