“the Mount Everest this year became a political pawn,” he said with some frustration.
This year Anthony Loeff the French climber is reporting the scales for Everest after reaching the summit of Mont Blanc earlier this season.
Min Bahadur Sherchan and four climbing guides reached the 29,035-foot (8,850-meters) summit of the world’s highest mountain early Sunday, said Ramesh Chretri, an official with Nepal’s ministry of tourism.
“The Chinese weren’t allowing anybody on Chomolungma or Mount Everest. They ended up commandeering it for themselves, even though Mt Everest is shared by two countries. Sherchan just 20 days away from his 77th birthday beat the age record set last year by 71-year-old Japanese teacher Katsusuke Yanagisawa.
Climber from Nepal, 74, oldest mountaineer to scale the peak of Chomolungma Hall was frostbitten and severely disoriented due to altitude sickness. Min Bahadur Sherchan returned a hero to Calgarians. They flexed their muscles this year all the in name of the Olympic spirit, but it was hardly spirited at all.”
More than 3130 people have climbed to the summit since it was first conquered in 1953 by New Zealander Edmund Hillary, who died in January, and Nepal’s Tenzing Norgay.
Nevertheless, he was all too aware of the potential dangers Mount Everest could bring. Certain parts of the climb are more dangerous than others and it is important for climbers to remain focused Now that Andrew Brash has successfully scaled the tallest mountain in the world, he is once again ready to focus on his family. The 75-year-old man from Nepal is now the oldest person to have reached the top of Chomolungma or Mount Everest. With the Chinese preparing for the impending summer Olympic Games, Bahadur Sherchan noted that the government’s actions hardly reflected the Olympic spirit. They basically coerced the Nepali government to not allow any climbers past camp two on the Nepali side. As he planned for the climb, Sherchan told reporters he wanted to inspire fellow senior citizens. He also said many Nepalese have established records on Chomolungma, so it was only fitting that the record for the oldest climber to reach the summit should also belong to a Nepali. Further, the decision to actualize a long-time personal goal left Bahadur Sherchan with some internal uncertainties, he cited the political actions of China and Nepal as providing the greatest adversity he faced on his journey. Andrew Brash returned this week from Nepal after successfully climbing to the summit of Mt Everest. The Chinese were flying their airplanes over Everest and had Chinese officials in Kathmandu. Min Bahadur Sherchan last attempt resulted in the rescue of Lincoln Hall, an Australian climber who was left by his team in the “death zone.”
His first found him within 169 metres of the peak when his team stopped to help a fellow mountaineer who was left for dead. Two years later, Andrew Brash, a University of Calgary alumni, returned to the Mount Everest to finish what he had started.

Building a snowboard rail is not as difficult as it may seem. The main thing your going to need is a long narrow piece of metal railing. If you don’t want to buy a railing you can probably find one at a junkyard.
Once you have your railing you need to pack some snow up on the side of it. So you have a soft landing, be certain that you pack snow on both sides of the railing. Grinding rails is more difficult to do with a big snowboard than with a smaller skateboard.
Did you know that snowboarders got the idea to grind rails from skateboarders. Yep, snowboarders saw how much fun the skateboarders were having and wanted to start grinding themselves.
Now that you know how to build your own snowboard rail, make sure to gain enough speed, you have a long wide open area. You’ll fall if your going too slowly. But don’t worry, just keep trying and eventually you’ll get it right.

ATLANTA–Less than 24 hours after winning Super Bowl XXXIV Most
Valuable Player honors, Kurt Warner was introduced at the annual
MVP news conference by NFL commissioner Paul Tagliabue. Like
most league observers who have been amazed by Warner’s football
pilgrimage, Tagliabue summed things up when he said “I’ll
remember last night for the rest of my life.” After all, it was
only five years ago that an undrafted Warner was cut by the
Green Bay Packers and bagging groceries at an Iowa Hy-Vee. That
was followed by three years with the Iowa Barnstormers in the
Arena Football League and a season with the Amsterdam Admirals
in Europe. Now here Warner stood, not only as Super Bowl MVP and
the owner of the game’s record for passing yards (414), but also
as the NFL’s regular-season MVP after throwing 41 touchdowns
during the year. “You may think of this as a Hollywood story,”
the 28-year-old Warner told the media. “But it’s just my life.”
The Rams came out firing in Super Bowl XXXIV against the
Tennessee Titans. Led by Warner’s right arm, the Rams reached
the Red Zone on each of their first six possessions. Yet, all
that time up-and-down the field resulted in just 16 points;
three Jeff Wilkins field goals in the first half and a nine-yard
touchdown reception by Torry Holt midway through the third
quarter.
Meanwhile, the St. Louis defense was also enjoying success in
shutting down Steve McNair and the Titans offense. The
first-half yardage totals said it all; Rams 294 (277 passing),
Titans 89. “I knew that I had to have a good game for us to win
the Super Bowl–no question about that,” Warner said to
reporters. “But if you are a quarterback and you don’t feel like
you can make the plays and don’t feel like you have got to make
plays every week, then you are in the wrong business and the
wrong position.”
Following Holt’s score, McNair engineered a 12-play, 66-yard
drive that took seven minutes off the clock. Eddie George’s
one-yard run with 14 seconds to play in the third quarter cut
the Rams lead to 16-6 (the two-point conversion failed). McNair
duplicated his magic on Tennessee’s next drive; throwing and
running the Titans into Rams territory. Then, a 21-yard pass to
Jackie Harris put the ball on the St. Louis 3-yard line. George
broke the plane again, capping a 13-play, 79-yard drive that
chewed up another seven minutes. Rams 16, Titans 13. Tennessee’s
defense held and an Al Del Greco field goal tied the game with
just 2:12 to play. The comeback was the largest in Super Bowl
history.
But Warner wasn’t done. On the next play from scrimmage, he
connected with Isaac Bruce for a 73-yard touchdown. The game was
tied for all of 18 seconds. The call came from Rams offensive
coordinator Mike Martz who would be taking over for coach Dick
Vermeil after the season. “It’s what we call ‘Twins right, Ace
right, 999 Halfback Balloon,’” said Martz after the game. “We
had five seconds left before the two-minute warning. We wanted
to take a shot to Isaac over there, and we hadn’t gotten it done
during the game, for whatever reason.”
With 1:54 remaining in Super Bowl XXXIV, McNair and the Titans
got one more chance and went to work. A 27-yard quarterback
scramble, a penalty, and a 16-yard pass helped move the ball all
the way to the Rams 10-yard line with six seconds to play.
Tennessee then called its final time out to design a play. The
decision? A slant to WR Kevin Dyson who made the catch inside
the 5-yard line and angled for the end zone. But Rams linebacker
Mike Jones wrapped up Dyson and pulled him down, his
outstretched arms landing less than a yard from the end zone.
“When I saw that ball go in the air, I said ‘It’s a touchdown,’”
Vermeil told reporters. “I was ready to call coach Martz and
tell him to get the script ready for overtime.” Bruce added
“This one is for Jerome Bettis, Troy Drayton, and even Darryl
Henley. This is for all of them. And this is for Los Angeles and
St. Louis. We did it for both cities.”

Sunny laid back Sunday morning, extended weekends or a vacation, discussion on none of these is complete without a mention of golf. What exactly is Golf? Well it is an outdoor ball game wherein the aim is to hit the ball into a series of holes in the minimum possible strokes. A round of golf consists of 18 holes. Now the number of strokes you need to hit one hole is your Par. Each hole has a teeing area around it, which includes a fairway, a rough sideway and a green well-mown area around the hole. Then there are the “not so wanted” barriers like sand traps, water etc that are called the bunkers.
It is believed to have originated from an ancient game called chole, supposedly meaning, “ball”. Most of the people believe that Scotland is where Golf was born, probably out of a banned 15th century game called ‘gowf’. However many folklore relate it as an acronym for Gentlemen Only, Ladies Forbidden. The modern Golf came into being again in Scotland in the later half of the 19th century. Later on over the 20th century golf saw a facelift with a variety of golf equipments and techniques being invented.
Golf has woven itself in the social fabric as the game of the elite and high-end businessmen. Would you believe if we tell you that many US business school add golf to their management curriculum? It is a game of social status. After all one has to shell out huge sums on latest equipment, the right clothing and the green fees of the golf course. This has still kept golf away from the reach of common man. Nevertheless, the massive popularity of the game can be judged by the very fact that there are over 32,000 golf courses in the world!
Players move around the golf course with their caddies who manage the equipments of the players. The player whose ball is farthest from the hole gets a chance to play first when each individual player has had his chance of playing the ball once. The game is won by the person or the team that scores the maximum holes. It can be played by teams in foursome or by individuals. A very interesting term taking rounds in the golfing community is “Golf handicap.” This is the score of proficiency of different players, which affect their net score, thus allowing players of different capacities to play against each other.
People say golf is not played by rules but by etiquettes. However, there are a few laid down rules. The most basic are “play the ball as it lies”, “play the course as you find it”, and “if you cannot do either, do what is fair”. A Golfer can play several types of shots such as tee shot, fairway shot, bunker shot, puts, pitch, flop, chip and a golf swing. A golf swing is the most complex shot that involves perfect coordination of the complete anatomy of the player.
Over the years golf equipment has grown in term of sophistication and technique. From golf balls, tees and clubs to golf carts, bags shoes, etc; it is a whole big market out there. The British officers first started professional golf. Now there are several Golf tournaments like PGA tour, Ryder Cup, U.S. Open etc. In this time and age when pollution is a big problem, the vast golf courses prove to be the breathing lungs of cities and towns where they are located. They nurture the local flora and fauna and provide a welcome respite from the concrete jungle.

After enduring that disgusting final weekend of the NFL regular season, I have come to the conclusion that a new tie-breaker is needed. How a team performs during the final weekend should be the first tie-breaker, with all the current tie-breakers falling in line after that. A team that won its final game would hold the first tie-breaker advantage against a team they’re tied with that lost its final game. If they both lost, both won, or both tied their final game, then the current tie-breakers would take effect in the order that they currently exist. That would accomplish at least three of positive things.
First, a team with a one game lead for a playoff spot, headed into the final weekend, would have more difficulty “backing in” to the playoffs the way Minnesota did this year. By all rights, New Orleans should have made the playoffs instead of the Vikings. They finished with identical records. However, the Saints won their final game, while the Vikings lost theirs. In fact, under the NFL’s current crazy tie-breaker system, the Vikings’ loss, while ultimately not damaging their own playoff hopes, ironically was one of the major factors that kept the Saints out of the playoffs! Under my proposed rule, the Saints would have been in and the Vikings would have been out.
Second, it would keep more playoff berths/positions open going into the final weekend and maintain more excitement and suspense all the way to the end. Currently, a team with a one game lead for a playoff berth, bye, home field advantage, and/or seeding can have that position clinched before the final weekend if they own the tie-breaker over the team(s) they lead. Under my proposal, that would not be possible. That position would still be open through the final weekend of the season. For example, the Pittsburgh Steelers would not have clinched the home field advantage in the AFC until they beat Buffalo in the final weekend, instead of having it already clinched going into that game.
Third, it would also keep teams with one game leads from having de-facto “byes” during the final weekend. Take Indianapolis for example. The Colts’ game against Denver this weekend was meaningless to them, even though it meant everything to the Broncos. Although the Colts had only a one game lead over San Diego for the number three seed in the AFC, they owned the tie-breaker over the Chargers. I don’t care what anyone says, the Colts, with their lack of effort, effectively rolled over and allowed the Broncos to win, which wasn’t fair to Jacksonville and Baltimore, the teams competing with the Broncos for the final AFC playoff spot. Under my proposal, the Colts would have had to win to maintain their third seed in the playoffs.

Parents often ask me what their children can do to prepare for their baseball season. Because training is specific, they should be training for baseball 12 months a year. There are very few kids who are so gifted that they can be very good in several sports. Many children start training in one sport when they are about six years old and specialize in that sport for the rest of their competitive careers.
It’s hard to get in shape in one month, but there are several rules of training that they should follow. First it’s background before peaking. Before you can throw a baseball or hit a baseball hard, you have to throw and hit easy. If you try to throw hard in the beginning, expect to injure yourself. First you do background training by increasing the volume of your workload gradually for several weeks and when you are ready to start peaking, you decrease your work volume and increase your work intensity. So you should go out with your son or daughter and play easy catch each day and let him try to hit the ball is a specific place, rather than trying to hit the ball hard. He also has to jog slowly before he can start running fast. So every day, he should jog slowly for up to 30 minutes.
After a few weeks, he or she is ready to start training. The next rule, he must follow for throwing, hitting and running is stress and recover. On one day he throws harder, hit further and runs faster. On the next day, he should take the day off, or jog slowly, throw easy and hit short. He continues to have easy days for all three specifics until his leg and arm muscles feel fresh. If he is training properly, he should take two days of easy training. Then he throws hard, hits far and runs fast, and this is followed by a couple of easy days again. On his hard days, he may throw every fifth pitch hard, followed by four easy throws, and hit the ball hard once every five hits until his muscle start to feel sore. Then he must stop for the day.
Since baseball players almost never run hard more than 100 yards, his running training should be to run 40 yards fast, rest until he recovers and then run 40 yards again short of all-out and repeat the cycle until his legs start to feel stiff or hurt. If he can do these hard workout days once or twice a week, he can expect to improve dramatically. If he takes easy days every day or just plays baseball each day, his improvement will be minimal. Slow jogging will not prepare him for baseball and trying to run fast more often than twice a week will just injure him. You prepare for all sports by following two rules: “background and peaking,” and “stress and recover.”

There are many kinds of fishing equipments in stores, numerous
fishing methods in books, and fishing advices online. To make it
all simple, here are the basic things you need to know for your
first time fishing adventure.
1) How to fish with bait
* Tackle. To plunk the bait, you should purchase lead weights.
The weight of the lead would vary depending on the current of
the environment. Anglers commonly use and recommend bank sinkers
with a number-two hook.
To avoid sinkers to slide, you would need a swivel to act as a
stop. To protect the knot, you could use plastic beads between
the swivel and weight. Using two appropriate swivels could allow
you to rig the sliding sinkers.
* Bait. The commonly used bait for all kinds of fishes is worms.
Another popular bait is chicken liver. Remember to buy fresh
bait and keep them cold to avoid them from getting soft and
allowing the bait to stay within your hooks.
Some of the commonly used baits are cut-baits which include skin
from fried chicken, fish entrails, grasshoppers, salmon eggs,
shrimps and crayfish tails.
2) How to fish - There are three basic methods for fishing.
* Plunking - It is the most common method used. Use a suitable
amount of weight for you to be able to take hold of the bait in
a position which is against any current. An option in plunking
is to use minimal weight for the bait to move along with the
water current.
* Back bouncing - It is done by lifting the bait out the bottom
and raising the tip of the rod for one to two feet. Allowing the
bait to walk with the current, you should free the back reel or
spool. Repeat the steps when the lure settles down on the
bottom. Back bouncing is effective in deeper water like fishing
in a boat.
* Drift-fishing - It is a simple method wherein you cast
upstream or downstream. This may vary depending on the current’s
amount. You should count the appropriate depth and start reeling.
3) How to fish from a boat - It is important to determine in
which location you would perform your fishing. Deeper water
needs heavier jigheads compared when fishing on shore.
* With heavy weight which keeps your bait near the bottom of the
water and the line straight down from your boat, you are able to
drift the boat along with any current. A good technique of
fishing on boats is trolling slowly with a fishing device called
bottom-walker.
Fishing is easy as long as you’re enjoying the trip. Bring some
of your family and friends along and make your first time
fishing a memorable one.

Conditioning for golf sounds like an oxymoron doesn’t it? But
let me ask you this. Do you feel stress in your body during or
after a golf swing? I’m referring to physical stress. The
muscles tightening; the lower back stiffening; the joints
aching; or just plain physical fatigue. The reason I ask is to
make you aware that conditioning for golf will help eliminate
all the above.
I’ve written many articles pertaining to the traumatic effect
the golf swing can have on the body. Swinging a 3 foot plus
lever (club) at up to 100 mph in a very dynamic and sometimes
uncomfortable position (golf posture) will abuse your body
quickly if you have not prepared your muscles from both a
strength and flexibility standpoint.
Physical breakdown of the body is a common occurrence for
golfers. Many golfers don’t realize the intense pressure the
golf swing causes, and yet they’ll deal with aches and pains
through their entire golfing career.
It doesn’t have to be that way!
Golf is an athletic movement and you should physically prepare
your body to perform, like any other athlete would for his or
her sport.
Doesn’t that make sense?
I see golfers every day on the range and the golf course who are
physically broken. They have locked up shoulders, inhibiting
their ability to rotate fully; they have no core strength (most
golfers are sporting too many pounds in the middle) to produce
power and distance; poor hamstring flexibility, making it
impossible to maintain golf poster; the upper back muscles are
weak and tight causing the rounded upper back, eliminating any
chance of proper spine angle.
I could go on and on, but I think you’re getting the picture.
I don’t know if golfers are in denial of the importance of
conditioning for golf, or just don’t want to put any effort into
that aspect of the game. But either way, it is inevitable that a
weak and restricted body will have no chance at maximizing
potential. It’s a physical impossibility.
Conditioning for golf should be taken seriously!
When you do a program specific to golf, it can be fun. Boredom
is one of the biggest causes of consistency and results. But if
you knew you were doing something not only for your personal
health, but to benefit your golf game, wouldn’t that motivate
you to stick with it?
We’re not talking about going to a gym for 2 hours with all the
muscle heads. We’re talking about 20-30 minutes a day in your
home. Simple and fun exercises with tubing, handweights and a
stability ball. Your complete golf fitness gym for under $60. No
gym memberships. Just a fun routine in the privacy of your home.
Evaluate where your golf swing and game are currently and ask
yourself this question. “Would I play better if I could move my
body more fluidly and powerfully?” The answer is a resounding
YES! You’ve got to realize this sooner or later. Prepare your
body to perform and the sky is the limit.
Get started right now on your conditioning for golf!
