My mother and I didn’t think the sparkling Chandra Sinclair, our family friend, would accessorize with wigs. Her voluminous hair styles flowed in sync with her indomitable look. Get this. There’s no doubt “Lady Fabulous” will be eternally known for her hair. Very few realize she lives confidently wearing lace front wigs. They work well.
As mere children in high school, we once swept all the beauty pageants. In our twenties her medical hair loss started acting up and her hair thinned spottily. I hinted about a few lace wigs. Whatever, she just shaved her head. Unfazed by medical hair loss, she somewhat obnoxiously never let you forget about her bald-headed look.
Appearing at the school’s rugby game, we flirted with the crowd until a numbskull retardedly launched the puck (or whichever thing that is) at us. My bff tried to get it when her bandana fell off, unveiling her thinning hair. No big deal, she walked over and delivered it back to the field. That’s so her!
Of course, everyone has insecurities. One time at our semi-monhtly mid-day lemonade chat, where she quietly informed me that she prefers to make do with a shorn head as a statement. She missed her natural hair too much to spend money on well crafted lace front wigs, though she knew it was a good idea. Then just like that our fearless protagonist changed the subject and asked that I drop it. I thought “oh, well.”
I thought about it all night. The next morning, I asked her about taking care of this wig problem. After a long deliberation we ended up with the only logical action: we’ll think of wigs as fashion, and we love fashion. So I’m getting one too!
Not sure who was more bewildered by the possibilities. She never imagined that lace front wigs were so confidence inspiring for a lot of people. These lace wigs brought out her youthful spirit. As for me, pieced together a completely fresh set of outfits around our wigs. Out of solidarity, and that will surely endure. Recently she sent me her thanks for her wig, and explained it invites a new attitude that she’d forgotten. It’s my pleasure to witness little miss attitude live a happier existence. Friends can do anything!
